A quick update after being MIA

Published OnI don't even know where to start. The last time I published a post was more than 3 months ago, time flies. Speaking of which, and no pun intended, but I was scrolling on YouTube this morning, and I saw a thumbnail of a video about MH370, the plane that got MIA, but that was already 10 years ago. That’s how fast time flies, and again, no pun intended. But in a way, I also got a little MIA. I have my reasons, which I will of course address in this post, because I don’t just want to drop a new post after such a long time. Alright, so what’s new lately.
Well, I’m happy to announce that I successfully finished my traineeship. Or at least the training part of it. I’m not sure actually if I’m still in the traineeship or not. But so the idea is to start working on real assignments, and before I get ahead of myself, let me first explain what exactly took place between my last post and this post.
In my last post, I wrote about how I passed the AZ-900 exam, and that actually marked the end of the pre-master, as it’s called in this DevOps traineeship, which is also phase 1. While that sounds exciting like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the DevOps traineeship, at least the one I’m enrolled in, only has 2 phases. And as mentioned above, I recently finished the traineeship, marking the end of phase 2. This phase 2 is also called the challenge phase, and it consists of a variety of topics like version control, data structures and API, containerization, pipeline automation, including testing, cloud services, networking, security, provisioning and monitoring. Some tools used during this phase were GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, and the ELK stack. To top it off, I worked on a practical assignment called PetClinic, and my task was to build an automated pipeline for this web app, including automated testing, provisioning, including destruction of resources, and all of this needed to run on 3 different Linux virtual machines, well 4, if you include the monitoring VM, and why wouldn’t you, so yeah, 4 different Linux virtual machines. Needless to say, I’ve been pretty busy.
But it’s not just the busy part why I haven’t been posting. You see, the actual reason why I haven’t been posting, is because I was just super focused with all the topics and assignments the last couple of months. And to be totally honest, writing posts isn’t exactly a high priority to me at this moment, or at least in the last couple of months. That being said, now that I am finished with the traineeship, I would like to allocate and schedule some time every week on posting new articles on everything DevOps through my lens.
Alright, I think this is pretty adequate for an update post. I do want to go a bit deeper on the actual assignment in another post. Bye for now.
